Background: 
UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.  UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022-2025), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. 
 
Digital engagement plays a key role in communication, fundraising, advocacy and development. The effective use of digital media platforms will help position UNFPA South Sudan as, expand its outreach and broaden engagement around the three zeros. The use of digital platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube through relevant content, experience and dialogue, allows the agency to connect directly with beneficiaries and partners, thus creating valuable relationships both online and offline as well as serve as a key reporting tool to development partners including donors.

 

Purpose:

The Digital Communications Analyst role is to provide support to UNFPA South Sudan Country Office with the management of their digital platforms namely: Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Country website and to align digital communications across the Country Office.  

Scope of work:
The analyst will fulfil the following duties and responsibilities:

Content Creation

  • Proactively create editorial content (stories, photos, advocacy images, contests, campaigns, audio, video, infographics, etc.) in cooperation with Communication Team and UNFPA South Sudan and adapt for media pitching, web and social media, posting daily to respective channels

Social Media

  • Continuously update and implement UNFPA South Sudan digital engagement strategy
  • Maintain a web and social media calendar and content plans of content themes and all upcoming coverage schedules according to the calendar
  • Prepare social media packs for flagship events, initiatives, campaigns
  • Actively engage with online audiences through social media channels.

Website update and content management

  • Manage Country Office website on a daily basis and works to continuously improve the design of the website; ensure key deadlines are met for the dissemination of time-sensitive content and shift to the new website in line with the Digital Transformation project
  • Generate and analyze reports on web traffic and KPIs using Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and other social media focused analytics channels

Design 

  • Provide design support to the Country Office for both digital and print platforms such as Posters and Banners

Qualification and Experience: 
The Consultant should have the following key competencies:

  • 2 years of relevant professional experience in the field of digital communications.
  • Ability to leverage information technology, executive information systems, management techniques and tools for optimal office performance
  • Knowledge and experience related to gender equality issues, sexual and reproductive health, human rights, and youth issues is an advantage
  • 2 years Work experience and ability to develop strong relationships with people from different cultural backgrounds
  • Strong communications skills, with proven expertise in developing compelling and modern digital communications materials
  • Sound knowledge of web 2.0 and digital technologies
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

Languages:
Fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of Arabic will be an asset.
